The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is committed to improving the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The NIAA recognises that each community is unique. Our team includes people across Australia who work closely with communities to make sure policies, programs and services address these unique needs.
As the custodian of funds held in trust for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, we assist Indigenous Australians to acquire and manage land and water related rights so that they can enjoy the rightful entitlements, opportunities and benefits that the return and management of country brings.
IBA serves, partners and invests with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to own their future. We go further than provide money; we invest in people, places and ideas that can’t wait. We help make them real.
We manage the national long-term strategy for the visitor economy. We provide tourism data and research on our Tourism Research Australia website. We administer grants to help grow businesses in the visitor economy
Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of individuals and families in Australian communities.
Enhancing Australia’s agriculture, environment, heritage and water resources through regulation and partnership.
Our vision is to support productivity and economic growth, and job creation for all Australians. As Australia recovers from the initial economic consequences of COVID‑19 and adapts to the pandemic’s ongoing effects, the department is supporting the implementation of the government’s economic recovery plan.
